Support for High School Seniors: FAFSA & College Application Assistance - Meet Ministry Representatives in the Courtyard
The Ministry for Youth Empowerment is pleased to announce that ministry members Sheba Fernandez and Jane Kennedy will be available in the courtyard after the 1:00 PM Mass on December 7, 2025, to meet with high school seniors.
FAFSA and College Application Help If you need assistance completing your FAFSA or college application forms, please connect with Sheba or Jane during their courtyard availability.
Questions About Future Meetings Our ministry representatives will also be available to answer questions about upcoming meetings. We encourage all high school seniors to take advantage of this opportunity as you prepare for your next steps in higher education!
Inviting young people who are considering post secondary education in the Fall of 2026! (Dates TBD)
The session will offer guidelines on college selection process, financial aid information including filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA } and information on the North Star Promise . The North Star Promise program offers free tuition for a high school graduate, who is a resident in MN, plans to attend Minnesota colleges including the University of MN and family income is $80,000 or less.

Provide information and guidance to young people, ages 16 through 21, to help them explore and pursue educational and vocational opportunities in the state of Minnesota.
Assist in the college application process and provide information on the North Star Promise program.
Support students from the Church of St. Odilia, Shoreview, MN, in their efforts to seek post-secondary educational and vocational opportunities.
Primary Goals:
Build Relationships - Establish strong, non-judgmental connections with participants.
Culturally Sensitive Support - Offer support to participants and their families that respects cultural differences.
Skill Building - Focus on improving decision-making, problem-solving, social skills, self-care, healthy habits, and stress management.
College Application & Financial Aid Information - Provide guidance and resources related to college applications and the financial aid process.
Goal Prioritization - Prioritize participants' personal goals, ensuring they take precedence.
Engagement with Families - Actively involve both participants and their families in programs and activities.
Cultural Awareness - Be mindful of cultural influences to ensure support is inclusive and relevant.
Healthcare Access - Address healthcare needs and encourage participants to access available health care resources.
Empower Personal Growth - Foster self-confidence to promote participants' personal and professional development.
Youth Leadership Development - Encourage youth leadership through opportunities for growth, responsibility, and leadership roles
