    • Ministry area councils

At the Catholic Community of St. Odilia, we have a servant leadership format for parish organizations, consisting of ten Ministry Area Councils (MACs) and the Parish Leadership Council (PLC).

Approximately ninety parishioners serve on the councils at any given time, and each year there are about thirty open positions.  The PLC provides leadership and vision for the parish, and serves as the architect and steward of the parish mission statement.  Members work closely with the staff and councils to develop, implement and achieve the Parish Mission. The MACs are responsible for defining and supporting the vision of the ministries within their area. They recommend operating practices and guidelines for facilitating the implementation and evaluation of ministry activities.

All the councils meet the third Tuesday evening of each month, beginning with prayer and a soup supper. The Ministry Area Councils meet separately to discuss issues related to their ministry area. Following those meetings, the Parish Leadership Council meets.

      Parish Structure Overivew

The parish leadership structure is based on a strong lay-leadership component that recognizes the gifts parishioners bring to our community.  At the heart of the structure is collaboration. This process is supported by the design and intentionality of the monthly meeting format that incorporates both prayer and the sharing of a simple meal prior to the council meetings.

      • Consensus decision-making is supported by participation in open and respectful dialogue at all levels of leadership. The nine MACs and the  PLC work in partnership with staff to develop the vision, policies, and programming that support the parish mission.

      • The PLC is the leadership group that coordinates and reviews the activities of the MACs and is responsible for policies and procedures of a parish-wide scope.

      • Another important part of the structure is the annual calling forth of new leaders to serve on the councils. The intent is to encourage and welcome new participation through a process of nomination, discernment, and information sessions. Spiritual discernment requires quiet personal reflection and prayer. This process takes place every spring. Information is published in the Sunday bulletin and The Messenger Newsletter.

    • Parish Leadership Council
      • The Parish Leadership Council (PLC) is the guiding body of St. Odilia Catholic Community. The PLC is composed of the Pastor, three at-large members of the parish, a representative from each of the ten Ministry Area Councils, two parish trustees that are selected by the Pastor, and parish administrative staff for a total of seventeen members altogether. Overall authority for parish mission and parish wide policies resides in the Parish Leadership Council, as delegated by the Pastor.

The role of the PLC is to facilitate the periodic (3-5 years) formation/revision of The Parish Mission Statement of St. Odilia, to nourish a parish environment that will encourage achievement of the mission, to communicate the mission to the community regarding its achievement and status, and to conduct regular evaluations of its progress.
The actions of the PLC are governed by the Constitution and By-Laws of the PLC. In the spirit of servant leadership, the actions of the PLC are focused on providing support to the Pastor, Parish Administrators and the ten Ministry Area Councils with emphasis on partnership and collaboration.

        Council Meeting Minutes

        July 2024 Stewardship Minutes

    • Community Life Council
      • To strengthen and deepen our relationships with God and each other through community experiences and events.

This council is unique with two areas of opportunity to serve:
Council Members and the Action Pack Team.

        • Council Members commit to serving three years and attending MACMeetings every third Tuesday of the month.
        • The Action Pack will be involved in executing the planning and organizing of events.  This is a great opportunity for those who are unable to make a commitment to monthly meetings, but would like to help out as much as they are able.
